The Role of Core Stability Exercises on Internal Rotator Cuff Muscles Strength And Its Motor Function in Amateur Archers
Authors
Abstract:
Purpose: Most studies have examined the effect of stretching and strength exercises on the glenohumeral joint (shoulder joint), on the other hand, due to the importance of the relationship between core stability and pectoral girdle, especially in archery athletes, the aim of this study was to investigate the effect of six weeks of core stability exercises on the glenohumeral joint internal rotator muscle strength and its motor function in male archers. Methods: For this purpose, 30 athletes were randomly divided into 2 groups of 15people: with core stability exercises (experimental group) and without core stability exercises (control group). The amount of motor function was measured using the upper quarter Y balance test (UQYBT) and the amount of muscle strength of the lumbar muscles was measured using a hand-held dynamometer (HHD). Then, the experimental group underwent a selected exercise program for 6 weeks. The tests were taken again from both groups (post –Test). SPSS software version 21 was used to analyze the collected data, also independent and dependent samples T-test were used to compare the data. The significance level in the test was determined to be 95%. Results: Changes in post- Test results on internal rotator muscle strength (p = 0.001) and motor function (p = 0.022) showed a significant difference between two groups. Conclusion: Therefore, due to the effect of core stability exercises on above variables, it is recommended that archery athletes use such exercises, in addition to specific exercises, to improve the function of the glenohumeral joint.

Background: The shoulder joint internal rotation deficit is inter alia the most important risk factors for throwing athletes. Thus, the present study aims at investigating the effect of eight weeks of rotator cuff muscles’ specific exercises on the range of motion, proprioception and the activation time of the selective shoulder muscles in male volleyball players with shoulder joint inter...
full textNormal isometric strength of rotator cuff muscles in adults
OBJECTIVES The most prevalent disorders of the shoulder are related to the muscles of rotator cuff. In order to develop a mechanical method for the evaluation of the rotator cuff muscles, we created a database of isometric force generation by the rotator cuff muscles in normal adult population. We hypothesised the existence of variations according to age, gender and dominancy of limb. METHODS...
